From the Principal of
Lathams Music
Lathams
Music has been my Family Business for as long as I can remember … and
longer. My Grandfather’s career started in Hunter St. during the 20’s,
managing Palings Pianos, and today we are looking into the future for
Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Our name has been synonymous with
Pianos, Print Music, Guitars and Instruments, as well as professing the
best quality service in the Music Industry. We pride ourselves on being
an approachable team, caring and considerate to your every musical need.
Many of our customers show us great loyalty, and for that we are
genuinely appreciative. Thank You.
Very soon, Lathams Music will be leaving
Westfield Kotara, moving to much larger premises at 10 Bradford Close,
Kotara (behind Clark Rubber). Our Park Avenue Piano Showroom (currently
near McDonalds) will also move to the new store. In the meantime, we
will be trading at Westfield Kotara until the end of May 2010.
In this new location, we will continue
to be of service, and expand into fields we have not yet fully explored;
such as Music Tuition, Early Childhood Music, and PA Hire.
In addition to our Kotara expansion, I
am pleased to announce our decision to open a division in East Maitland.
Many of our Hunter Region clients are very pleased with this news, and
continue to be extremely grateful, and for that, I Thank You.
Located close to Stockland Greenhills
Shopping Centre, at 11 Molly Morgan Drive, Lathams Music will duplicate
its excellence in the Hunter Region. Our same friendly staff will drive
this store, with Richard, Tracey and Andy overseeing your requirements.
I guarantee you a notable shopping
experience as both Richard and Andy excel in customer service, and
Tracey has over 17 years experience with Lathams Music (and being a
“Maitland Girl”, is high on anticipation. My Grandparents lived in
Maitland too, and so moving in feels comfortable and natural).
So, I Invite You to Visit, (7 days a
week if you like) our New Environments, and Welcome You to our
Hospitality and Knowledge, in order to Improve Your Own Musical
Experiences.

History
Lathams Music has existed for 4 generations, with Arch Latham tuning pianos in Newcastle since the 1930’s. The first Lathams Retail outlet was opened in Hunter Street, Newcastle in 1949, which moved to Mayfield in 1968. In 1974 a store was opened at Garden City (now Westfield Kotara), and in 1988 at Charlestown Square. This same year the Mayfield store closed. In 1999 the Charlestown Square store was merged to Kotara, and in 2005 Lathams opened their Piano and Education Division at 2/76 Park Ave, Kotara.
